A small open garden pavilion: a raised floor, corner posts, a railing and a peaked roof. A perfect weekend build and a centrepiece for any garden.
What you need
Block
What it is for
stone bricks
Raised floor + steps
stripped oak log
Corner posts
oak planks
Railings + bench
dark oak planks
Roof (stairs + slabs)
lantern
Hanging light
Build it in five
1
Lay the floor
Pick a shape: square is simplest, a hexagon or octagon gives the classic look. Raise it a block or two on a stone or wood platform with steps up to it.
2
Raise the posts
Put a post (log, fence or pillar) at each corner, all the same height. Six to eight blocks is plenty for a roomy, airy feel.
3
Add railings
Fill the lower half between posts with fences, walls, trapdoors or a lattice of stairs and slabs. Leave one side open as the entrance.
4
Build the roof
Cap it with a peaked or domed roof of stairs and slabs that tapers to a point. A second smaller tier and a finial block on top really sell it.
5
Dress it
Add a bench ring or a central table, hanging lanterns, climbing plants up the posts, and string lights or hidden glow along the eaves.
Open, raised, and topped with a point
A gazebo is defined by three things: it sits up off the ground, it is open on the sides, and it has a tapered roof that comes to a point. Get those right and the details (lanterns, vines, a bench) turn a frame into a place to sit.
Quick answers
How do you build a gazebo in Minecraft?
Raise a small floor (square or hexagon) a block or two off the ground with steps, put a matching post at each corner, fill the lower half between posts with railings, then cap it with a peaked roof of stairs and slabs and a finial. Add a bench, lanterns and climbing plants.
What shape should a gazebo be?
Square is the easiest to build. Hexagons and octagons look more like a classic garden gazebo but need diagonal walls and a faceted roof. Pick the shape first because it sets every other measurement.
How do I build a pointed roof?
Ring the top of the posts with stairs facing inward, then step in and up with more stairs and slabs each layer until they meet at a point. Top it with a fence post or a lantern as a finial.
How big should a gazebo be?
A cosy one is 5x5 to 7x7 inside, big enough for a bench and a small table. Keep the posts six to eight blocks tall so it feels open and the roof has room to taper.
What goes inside a gazebo?
A bench around the edge or a central table, hanging lanterns, potted or climbing plants, and soft lighting. Leave the middle clear so it stays a place to stand and look out.
Does this work the same on Bedrock?
Yes. Stairs, slabs, fences, lanterns and the build techniques are identical on Java and Bedrock, so the gazebo builds the same on either edition.
