Goats charge and ram now and then. If the charge hits a hard block like stone, the goat drops a goat horn instead of just knocking you back. Stand behind a block so the goat rams it, grab the horn, and use a screaming goat for the fastest farming. Each goat has only two horns to give.

Two. Every goat starts with two horns and drops one per successful ram into a block, up to that limit. Once a goat has lost both horns it will not drop any more, so you need more goats for more horns.

There are eight: Ponder, Sing, Seek, Feel, Admire, Call, Yearn and Dream. Each goat horn you collect plays one of these sounds, so gather several goats and rams to complete the set.

The horn drops when the goat hits something hard

A goat that charges into a solid block drops a horn, and it will not drop one from being hit or bred. That means the whole method is standing behind the right block and waiting to be charged at.

Only certain blocks trigger the drop

Stone, logs, packed ice, iron ore and a handful of others work, while dirt and wool do not. Building a small pen out of a block that works, with you on the far side of it, is faster than following a goat around a mountain.

Eight sounds, and screaming goats give the rarer ones

Each horn plays one of eight calls, and a goat only ever drops the ones assigned to it. Getting the full set means several goats, and screaming goats are the ones worth keeping around because they charge far more often.
