How to Make a Bundle

A bundle is the tidiest storage in the game: one inventory slot that holds a whole stack's worth of mixed items. Perfect for mining trips, where six half-stacks of junk would otherwise clog your hotbar.

The recipe

Two cheap ingredients, both early-game. Lay them out in the crafting grid and you have a bundle.

6
string
+
1
rabbit hide

String drops from spiders and cobwebs; rabbit hide comes from rabbits (two hide also craft into one leather). The exact grid pattern is on Astroworld crafting.

Packing and unpacking

Putting items in

Pick up the bundle on your cursor and right-click it onto a stack, or hold the bundle and right-click items. Each one packs in until the bundle is full.

Taking items out

Right-click the bundle in your inventory to drop the most recent item back out, one at a time. Empty bundles weigh nothing.

How much fits

A bundle holds 64 “slots” of space. A normal item that stacks to 64 takes 1/64th of that per item, so one bundle swallows a full stack of cobblestone. Mix items freely until the space runs out.

  • One full stack of any 64-stackable item fills a bundle exactly.
  • Items that stack to 16 (like eggs) take four times the room each.
  • Non-stackable items (tools, armor, boats) are heaviest of all.
  • Shulker boxes cannot go inside, just like they cannot nest.
  • Bundles come in all 16 dye colours for quick colour-coding.

Quick answers

How much does a bundle hold?
Up to 64 'item slots' worth in total. That is one full stack of a single item, or a mix of partial stacks adding up to the same room.
Do non-stackable items fit?
Yes, but they are heavy: a single non-stackable item (like a sword or a boat) eats a big slice of the bundle's space.
Can I put a shulker box in a bundle?
No. Shulker boxes cannot go inside a bundle, the same way they cannot nest inside each other.
How do I take things back out?
Right-click the bundle in your inventory to drop the last item in, or open it to pick what you want. Items come out in order.
Which version added them?
Bundles became craftable for everyone in 1.21.2. Before that they were an experimental, snapshot-only feature.
Can I dye a bundle?
Yes, all 16 dye colours. Handy for colour-coding what each bundle is for at a glance.

Look up the bundle, string and rabbit hide on the items database, grab the exact pattern from crafting, or read about rabbits in the mob database.
