Mob farms

Mob farms kill hostile or passive mobs to collect their drops and experience points. Designs range from simple dungeon spawner conversions to complex multi-layer spawning towers.

Crop and plant farms

Crop farms produce food, brewing ingredients, and tradeable goods. Most can be automated with villagers, pistons, or redstone.

Resource generators

Resource generators create blocks or items from game mechanics, often using lava, water, or redstone.

XP farms

XP farms focus on maximizing experience points per hour for enchanting, anvil repairs, and mending.

Villager systems

Villager-based builds use trading mechanics, breeding, and job assignments for emerald farming and item acquisition.

General tips for all farms

  • Build mob farms high in the sky. This eliminates ground-level spawns that waste the mob cap. Y=200+ is ideal.
  • Spawn-proof surrounding areas. Place slabs, carpets, or buttons on all exposed surfaces within 128 blocks of your AFK position.
  • Use hoppers and chests for collection. Items despawn after 5 minutes on the ground. Always collect drops automatically.
  • Name-tag important mobs. Villagers, zombies used for scaring, and endermites used as lures should all be name-tagged to prevent despawning.
  • Test before building large. Build a small prototype first, verify it works, then scale up.
  • Check server rules. Some servers limit entity counts, disable TNT duplication, or restrict certain farm types. Verify with your server administrator before investing time.

Need a server that handles all this? Astroworld Hosting, NVMe SSDs, Pterodactyl panel, DDoS protection on every plan.
