Great View From Up Here requires you to levitate up 50 blocks from the point where a Shulker's projectile hits you. Shulkers are found only in End Cities, and their levitation effect lasts 10 seconds. You need enough vertical space above you and a plan to survive the fall. This guide walks you through the setup and execution.

Understanding Shulker levitation

When a Shulker's projectile hits you, you gain the Levitation effect for 10 seconds. During this time, you float upward at a rate of approximately 0.9 blocks per second per level of Levitation. At Levitation I (the standard Shulker-inflicted level), you rise about 9 blocks per second. Over 10 seconds, that is roughly 50-52 blocks of height, which is exactly what you need.

The advancement triggers when you have risen 50 blocks above your starting position while under the Levitation effect. You do not need to land safely for it to count, but dying on impact is a waste of gear.

Finding Shulkers

Shulkers spawn exclusively in End Cities. To reach End Cities:

1. Defeat the Ender Dragon.
2. Find an End Gateway portal (small floating portal that appears after the Dragon dies).
3. Throw an Ender Pearl through the gateway to reach the outer End islands.
4. Bridge or fly (if you already have elytra) to End Cities. They generate in the outer End islands with purple Purpur Block structures and tall towers.

Setting up for the advancement

You need 50+ blocks of vertical clearance above you. End Cities naturally provide this in their towers, but the safest approach is:

1. Find a Shulker at a low elevation. Look for Shulkers near the base of an End City or on the lower floors.
2. Clear blocks above. Make sure there are no ceilings or obstructions within 55 blocks above you. If the Shulker is inside a tower, break through the floors above to create a vertical shaft.
3. Position yourself directly below open sky. The outer End has no height limit issues. Stand where you can float straight up without hitting anything.

Executing the advancement

1. Aggro the Shulker by standing within its line of sight. Shulkers open their shells and fire projectiles when they see you.
2. Let the projectile hit you. Do not block with a shield or dodge.
3. Once Levitation starts, do not move horizontally. Float straight up.
4. After about 6-7 seconds of floating, the advancement should trigger.

Surviving the fall

After Levitation wears off, you will fall from 50+ blocks high. Without protection, this is lethal. Use one of these methods:

• Slow Falling potion: Drink it before the Levitation wears off. You will descend gently.
• Water bucket: Place water just before you hit the ground. This requires precise timing.
• Elytra: Open your elytra mid-fall to glide to safety.
• Ender Pearl: Throw a pearl at the ground before impact.
• Feather Falling IV boots: Reduces fall damage significantly. Combined with Protection IV armor, you may survive the fall without any other tools, but it will hurt.

Troubleshooting

• Hitting a ceiling: If you collide with blocks, you stop rising and the 50-block threshold might not be met. Always clear obstructions above.
• Shulker teleporting: Shulkers can teleport when damaged. Do not attack the Shulker; just let it hit you.
• Multiple Shulker hits: Getting hit again while already levitating resets the timer and can push you higher. This is fine and actually helps.
• Falling into the void: If you are near the edge of an End island, horizontal drift during levitation can send you over the edge. Stay near the center of solid ground.
