Duration Reduction Rules
- Splash: 75 % of base drinkable duration. Distance from impact further reduces effectiveness.
- Lingering: 25 % of base drinkable duration. Applied in short bursts as entities pass through the cloud.
- Redstone (Extended): Increases duration to roughly 2.67x for most potions. Exact values vary per potion.
- Glowstone (Enhanced): Increases amplifier by 1 level but halves duration for most potions. Mutually exclusive with Redstone.
Every brewable potion, timed in ticks
A duration chart in minutes and seconds hides the fact that the game does not work in minutes and seconds. It counts ticks, twenty a second, and every figure below is the number it actually stores. That is why Poison II comes out at four hundred and thirty two ticks rather than a round twenty two seconds, and why an enhanced Regeneration is four hundred and fifty rather than four hundred and eighty.

How to read the chart without being fooled
Two things about this chart mislead people. The first is that a longer bar is not a better potion: Regeneration at 900 ticks heals more per second than Strength at 3600 does damage, and comparing the lengths says nothing about that. The second is that the enhanced column is shorter on purpose, not by mistake: Glowstone Dust buys a level and pays for it with the clock, every time. Read the chart down a column to compare bottles of the same kind, and read it across a row to see what a modifier costs you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which potions cannot be extended?
Instant potions (Healing and Harming) cannot be extended because they have no duration. They take effect immediately when consumed or applied.
Which potions cannot be enhanced?
Night Vision, Fire Resistance, Water Breathing, Slow Falling, Invisibility, and Weakness have no level II variant. Adding Glowstone Dust to these potions has no effect.
Does the modifier order matter?
No. You can extend a potion first and then make it splash, or make it splash first and then extend it. The final result is the same either way.
