Splash and Lingering Variants

Add Gunpowder to any finished potion to create a Splash Potion you can throw. Splash potions affect all entities within a small radius on impact. Durations for splash variants are reduced to 75 % of the drinkable version. Add Dragon's Breath to a Splash Potion to create a Lingering Potion that leaves an area-of-effect cloud on the ground. Lingering potion durations are 25 % of the drinkable version.

Best Uses

  • PvP: Strip off all armour before drinking to become fully invisible. With no armour, other players cannot see your nametag at close range either (though server mods may override this).
  • PvE: Reduces mob detection range significantly. Most hostile mobs only detect you at 7 % of their normal range when you wear no armour. Wearing armour increases the detection range by about 17 % per piece.
  • Pranks and traps: Splash Invisibility on a team-mate or hostile mob can create confusion during events.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can mobs still see me while invisible?

It depends. Mobs have a reduced detection range. With no armour the range drops to roughly 7 % of normal. Each armour piece increases detection range. Spiders, the Ender Dragon, and the Warden are not affected by Invisibility at all.

Does invisibility hide my armour?

No. Equipped armour, held items, and particle effects remain visible. For full stealth, remove all equipment.

Can I use extended Night Vision to make extended Invisibility?

You can, but it is more efficient to brew base Night Vision, corrupt it to Invisibility, and then extend the Invisibility potion directly with Redstone Dust. Both methods produce the same result.
