What is a biome?

A biome is a region of the world with its own climate, terrain, blocks, mobs and colours. Biomes decide nearly everything about an area: whether it rains or snows, which mobs spawn, what trees and plants generate, and which structures you can find. They exist across all three dimensions, the Overworld, the Nether and the End.

Temperature, rarity and what biomes decide

Climate: temperature sets rain vs snow and grass/water colour.
Mobs: each biome has its own spawn list (axolotls in lush caves, striders in the Nether).
Blocks: unique blocks like mud, cherry leaves or sculk only generate in specific biomes.
Rarity: some biomes (mushroom fields, cherry grove, deep dark) are rare and worth seeking out.
