Minecraft Seeds: Best Worlds and How to Use Them

A seed is the number that determines how a world generates. Enter the same seed on the same version and you get the same terrain, biomes and structures every time. That is why a good seed can drop you next to a village, a mansion and a perfect build spot from the first morning.

Seeds are not cross-compatible between editions: the same number generates a different world in Java than in Bedrock. The edition column above tells you where each seed works. Always match the seed to your edition and version.

When creating a world, open More World Options and paste the seed into the Seed field. On a server, set level-seed in server.properties before the world generates. Version matters: structures and biomes shift between updates, so use a seed on the version it was made for.
